Delinquent Tax
Collection

Our office is dedicated to collecting overdue taxes that are at least one year past due, owed to county or state organizations. Each year, the office works closely with homeowners & business owners to facilitate the timely payment of outstanding taxes. In certain cases, the office may offer payment solutions, such as setting up escrow accounts, to help property owners manage their debts with regular payments. If a property owner fails to meet their financial obligations, the tax department may take further action, including filing a lien and initiating the foreclosure process.

What is Delinquent Tax Collection?

A responsibility of the County Attorney is the collection of overdue taxes, specifically those that are at 1 year past due, owed to county or state organizations. This office works diligently to ensure the prompt payment of delinquent property taxes. In accordance with KRS Ch. 134, the County Attorney is statutorily required to administer & collect these taxes.

Payment Plans

If you are unable to pay a Certificate of Delinquency (overdue tax bill) in full, you may qualify for a payment plan with the Anderson County Attorney’s Office. If the Certificate of Delinquency has been sold to a third-party purchaser, you will not be eligible for a payment plan with Anderson County.  Payment plans generally run from 4 to 8 months depending on several factors, but must be paid prior to the next tax bill’s due date.
