Child Support
Kentucky law requires both parents to support their children and expect each other to help. The custodial parent can request assistance or apply online to establish paternity. If paternity is not established, a paternity petition is filed. The Child Support Division helps establish paternity and sets a child support payment for the non-custodial parent. The Child Support Guideline chart based on KRS 403.211 and KRS 403.212 outlines the expected monthly support amount. If the non-custodial parent fails to pay, the Division can assist with collection through legal processes.
